As a crisis counselor, I have had fantastic experiences working alongside corporate legal teams. One observation -- PR departments are used to newsroom-style deadline pressure. Legal departments are typically used to more long-term, court-regimented timeframes. That's usually the biggest rub -- having cheetahs run with lions.

I presume that the PR, not being a complete wimp a long way down the pecking order, insisted on seeing all opinions to the company before they were submitted to management to test their significance for reputation management. Recognising the significance for the organisation, one also presumes fast turn round with phone calls for clarification to the aggressive lawyer between 0300 and 0600 for implementation on the next working day.
