Matt Shaw Senior Vice President, Director of Communications Council of Public Relations Firms Matt Shaw joined the Council in November 2002 after stints at top public relations firms across the country. Shaw’s responsibilities include running all facets of communications for the association, whose stakeholders include Council members, the media, corporate communicators, educators, researchers and other industry organizations. He also serves as the Council’s managing editor of the weekly online publication, The Firm Voice, which was launched in March 2008. Shaw joined the Council from member firm Edward Howard & Co. in Cleveland. As an account manager there, he planned and executed communications programs for such clients as the Cleveland Cavaliers, Charter One Financial, Inc. and Huffy Bicycle Co. Prior to Edward Howard & Co., Shaw was a senior account executive for Publicis Dialog in Salt Lake City. Shaw began his public relations career at Agnew, Carter, McCarthy in Boston (now Manning Selvage & Lee). As a consumer media relations specialist, Shaw's work for his nationally-known accounts contributed to significant media coverage for those companies. Shaw worked as a reporter for the Lexington (MA) Minuteman and was a feature writer for Utah Business magazine. He earned his accreditation in public relations (APR) and graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. in political science. |
